What’s the one sure thing that your business needs? Have you got any idea? It’s actually something that practically no business over a certain size can cope without. Its actually not a thing, but a person or group. Still guessing?
An Accountant. I’m sure you were thinking that, but seriously people underestimate just how important accountants can be, to any business let alone theirs. I used to run a couple of businesses when I was much younger (I’m far too old for that kind of lifestyle now) and I remember my accountant saving the day on not only one occasion but countless over they years that we worked together.
There’s just so many benefits to them, but what surprises me the most is the amount of small company owners that believe that they can get on just fine without having to hire one (even if it is on a short term basis) at all. I think this is complete madness, and I want to quickly attempt to explain to you exactly why I think this, and why I also think that it’s never a bad idea to ask and pay an accountant to assist you with your bookkeeping.
The most important thing they can offer you is time. People always forget this. Their job is to watch over your finance like a hawk, and make sure you don’t make any unwise or sporadic financial decisions. This alone will save any business owner a huge amount of time, and keep their stress levels at an all time low.
Just think about all the great things you can get done with the extra time. At the top of that list I would put one thing and one thing only. Growing your business. This is the single most important thing a business owner should be focusing on day in day out. An accountant essentially gives you more time to do just that. Their help cannot be underestimated. I remember when I was living in the north of England many years ago, I hired a hull accountant and he did a marvellous job.
So remember this, bringing someone to run your accounts on board can never be a bad idea.
